Anchurus I is a system designed to help you carry out large scale desktop research. It enables you to:
- Record details of monuments where a monument is an archaeological site, a historic building or a historic site.
- The system has been designed so you can record any number of phases of development or use of a monument
- Geolocate a monument using QGIS. This can be used at any level of detail from a national level to a small group of street in a town or village
- Manage maps layers. These include maps from recognised sources such as UK Ordnance survey, and Open Street Map, and maps you can generate for example we use a map of the Berkshire Region showing land over 110m
- Categorise monuments by using different thesauri
- Dating monuments using different dating methods for example years or archaeological periods
- Write queries to select monuments that meet relevant historic for example: All Iron Age enclosures occupied in the period 250BC to 1BC
